Though Nashville does not have a Major League Baseball team, the city is the proud home of the Nashville Sounds.
The Sounds are a minor league baseball team associated with the Pacific Coast League and are the AAA affiliate of the Oakland Athletics. The team is named for Nashville’s musical associations. The Sounds were established as a AA baseball team in 1978 and were replaced as a AAA team in 1985. The team has had more than 1,000 players, 24 managers, and has been previously called one of the best minor league teams of all time.
Currently, the Nashville Sounds play their games out of Herschel Greer Stadium, though they will move to First Tennessee Park for the 2015 season.
